Kathleen Grollman Bedell

Kathleen Grollman Bedell, 74, passed away on September 22nd, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. 

Kathleen was born on March 22, 1950, in Washington D.C, a daughter of Dr. Jaye Grollman and Mary (Dahl) Grollman. She attended Immaculata High School, then went on to Stephen’s College in Columbia, Missouri, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Theater and Arts. Kathleen (Kaki) married Richard (Dick) Bedell on December 20, 1972, in Spirit Lake, Iowa at St. Mary's Catholic Church, they were married for 51 years. Kaki became the proud mother of; Wade, Courtenay, and Allison. Kaki worked at Bettendorf Eye Care Center for over 20 years, where she was the office manager for her husband's Optometric practice. She was an active volunteer in her community and enjoyed working to help others. She truly LOVED the theater, and she and her husband frequented New York City Broadway shows. Kaki was active in local theater productions and served her time with the Junior League. She loved ballroom dancing and she and Dick pursued it with a passion. She will be remembered for being a loving spouse, mom, grandmother, aunt, and friend to anyone she encountered. Kaki could be seen walking the beach on Isle of Palms, cooking amazing meals, attending her grandchildren's events, enjoying a Hallmark movie, writing cards to friends, and sharing the joys of her family. Kaki's legacy will be for her strong fighting spirit and for the compassion to make others' lives better. Those left to keep her memory alive are her husband Dick Bedell, her children: Wade (Joslyn) Bedell, Courtenay Bedell, Allison (Steve) Zabel; loving GramKaki to Taylor Zabel, Carson Zabel, and Brock Zabel, Sister Karen Bruning, Sister-in-law, Kristi Bedell (Dan) Stahl, Sister-in-law, Deenie (Jim) Schuchert, nieces and nephews; Clay Bedell, Aaron Bedell, Kara Greer, and Chad Schuchert. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Carmel Sperry, father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Jack and Marcia Bedell, Brother-in-law, David Bedell, Nephew, Todd Schuhert, and Brother-in-Law, F.D. Bruning. A funeral service for Kaki Bedell is at 1:00p on 12/21/24 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Bettendorf, IA.
